Residents in Mbeere North
Constituency, Embu County, expressed outrage after electricity transformers
installed ahead of the November 2025 by-election were removed, disrupting
businesses and children's studies.
Kenya Power stated the 15 units
were taken for routine maintenance between May and June, with 14 repaired and
reinstalled, and one vandalized set for replacement on Friday.
Locals feel cheated and draw parallels to the upcoming July 16 Ol Kalou by-election, while officials deny political motives and call the claims propaganda.
