MCK condemns Attacks on Journalists during Ol Kalou poll Coverage

Journalists in Kenya are facing a wave of violence while covering public events.

Nation Media Group (NMG) reporters and camerapersons were brutally assaulted, beaten, tased, and had their equipment stolen by armed masked men at the OlKalou by-election.

Local and international journalists were also attacked by knife-wielding gangs and had stones thrown at their vehicles while covering anti-regime protests in Kibra.

The Media Council of Kenya strongly condemned these assaults. Media associations are demanding swift investigations and the immediate return of stolen gear to protect press freedom.
