Nairobi Viaduct Reaches Key Milestone at 48% Complete

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority reports the one-kilometre elevated bridge, linking Upper Hill, Valley Road, and the Central Business District, has completed its reinforced concrete piers and pier caps, hitting 48% overall.

Launched in 2020 with a KSh 3 billion budget, work stalled over payment disputes but resumed in July 2025 after funding cleared arrears; it now advances to installing precast girders.

President William Ruto targets completion before December 2026, promising to ease chronic traffic jams, add cycle lanes and pedestrian paths, and boost productivity in Kenya's capital.
