Iran and Russia Sign $25 Billion Nuclear Power Deal

The agreement between Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and Russia’s Rosatom covers four third-generation reactors totaling 5 gigawatts on a 500-hectare site in Sirik, southern Iran—set to be the country's largest nuclear project yet.

 It supports Tehran's goal of 20 gigawatts in nuclear capacity and includes small modular reactor cooperation, building on Russia's work at Bushehr.

The news precedes a meeting between Presidents Pezeshkian and Putin next week in Kyrgyzstan at a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, signaling deepening strategic partnership despite U.S. pressures and sanctions talks.
