The families
will each receive about Sh353.3 million from a $444.5 million Boeing
compensation fund, on top of earlier Sh188 million payments, totaling around
Sh540 million per victim before deductions.
This stems from the March 10, 2019, Flight 302 disaster that killed all 157 aboard, including 32 Kenyans, due to automated flight control issues on the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
The funds, shared equally across victims from
that crash and the Lion Air incident, cap a long legal process, though some
families secured even larger private U.S. settlements. Online reactions blend
relief with the sober truth that no money replaces those who were lost.
