Prime Minister Andy Burnham Cheers Everton's Lead in Premier League Opener

Burnham attended his first Everton game since taking office, settling in for the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace where the hosts led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's superb 42nd-minute strike, assisted by Armstrong.

Crystal Palace pushed back with strong play from Adam Wharton, whose incisive passes tested Everton's defense, including a key save by Jordan Pickford.

While a few fans noted questions about the PM's neutrality given his deep club ties, most focused on the lively pitch action heading into a tense second half.
