On August
21, a severe thunderstorm battered Forlì “Luigi Ridolfi” Airport in northern
Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, with winds up to 120 km/h flipping and sliding
unsecured light planes.
Firefighters quickly secured the aircraft, and
the airport reopened after a one-hour closure with no injuries reported.
The brief 15-minute storm also downed dozens of trees and flooded streets across Forlì, prompting over 300 local emergency calls. Pilots called it a vital reminder to always tie down small planes properly.
