China Expels Two Top Generals Over Corruption and Disloyalty

The Communist Party's Political Bureau expelled Zhang Youxia, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Liu Zhenli, former chief of the Joint Staff Department, for serious violations including huge bribes, forming cliques, and abandoning their duties.

Their cases, investigated since January and with military status already stripped in August, now head to prosecutors.

This action continues President Xi Jinping's years-long anti-corruption drive in the People's Liberation Army, with state media calling it a boost to discipline and cohesion amid concerns over leadership impacts.
