China's
Cyberspace Administration launched an investigation into DeepSeek and Moonshot
after Anthropic's report revealed they routed millions of user exchanges to its
Claude models.
Moonshot sent over 23 million exchanges from May to July, while DeepSeek forwarded more than 12 million in just 14 days in July, including data on surveillance near military sites and police systems.
The probe examines potential cross-border data leaks amid Beijing's strict data security rules, as the firms gear up for UN AI risk briefings. No penalties have been announced yet.
