On September 1, Associate Editor at The Standard Group was seized on the Gilgil–Nakuru Road and held overnight before being dumped near Masinga Dam, 200 kilometers away. He was found safe around 6:30 a.m. on September 2, shaken but unharmed, after a local family helped him.
This followed a similar escape in June from men linked to a National Police Service vehicle; The Standard Group called it targeted intimidation over critical government coverage and demanded accountability.
