Ruto Calls for Permanent African Seats on UN Security Council

Speaking at a Kenya-EU summit in New York during the 81st UN General Assembly, Ruto highlighted Africa's 54 nations and 1.4 billion people, noting its exclusion from permanent Security Council seats despite leading peacekeeping efforts.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres backed the call, calling the current setup unjust and outdated for today's challenges. Ruto also urged leaders to prioritize education, health, and family needs over debt payments alone, aligning with Africa's push for at least two permanent seats with veto power under the Ezulwini Consensus.
