During the
Senate Mashinani programme in Kilifi County, Sifuna and Senate committees
inspected the fish landing project, examining cold storage, a fish banda, gear
shed, solar setup, and waste digester.
Sifuna criticized the facility for ignoring community input from start to finish, leaving residents feeling sidelined despite its potential benefits.
Committees demanded its handover to the county government for better management, while locals raised issues like poor access roads and ties to everyday livelihoods. The five-day outreach brings Senate work directly to the people through oversight and open forums.
