Exports
jumped 36.3% to $447 billion in September, smashing forecasts of 25.7%, while
imports rose 31%, driven by high-tech items like semiconductors, electric
vehicles, and AI-related electronics. Shipments to the US climbed 39.6%, and
the nine-month surplus reached $938 billion, on pace to break last year's $1.2
trillion record.
The boom highlights China's manufacturing edge amid soft domestic demand, though trading partners like the EU eye the imbalance with new export caps on vehicles.
