Estonia is
relocating its First Brigade from Tapa to Jõhvi, just 50 kilometers from
Russia, while building a new base in Narva for up to 1,000 troops. The country
is acquiring U.S. HIMARS and South Korean Chunmoo systems, both with
300-kilometer ranges, to strike deep into Russia from the conflict's start
under a new 'active defence' strategy.
Defence spending has jumped 42 percent to €2.4 billion, or 5.4 percent of GDP, as officials say current deterrence isn't enough and aggression must be made costly immediately. This aligns with NATO's eastern flank reinforcements, though Estonia relies on allies for air cover.
