Kenya's
Ministry of Health confirmed the nation's first Ebola case in a 40-year-old
businessman who traveled from DR Congo through Uganda, arriving in Nairobi on
October 3 before dying on October 5 at Nairobi Hospital. Officials suspended
all government meetings, seminars, and conferences in hotels starting October 7
as a precaution while tracing dozens of contacts and enhancing border
screenings.
Health leaders like Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni urged handwashing and symptom reporting, stressing no local outbreak exists, even as some online voices question if the measures might limit public gatherings.
