Kiarie won
gold in freestyle battle and silver in classic slalom at the International
Skating Challenge in Cotonou, Benin, in April 2026, then claimed two golds at
the Africa Skate Games in Egypt in May, all on self-funded efforts. The Kenya
Federation of Roller Skating disowned him, stating he was unregistered and
competed as an individual, amid questions over KSh 10 million budgets for
events like the African and World Championships that athletes say never reached
them.
Kiarie,
holding a professional license under Kenya's Sports Act, shared photos of
federation president Anthony Mburu aiding him in 2022 and called for
transparency on the funds, while public support highlights deeper issues in
Kenyan sports governance.
