Rubio told
reporters alongside Greece's foreign minister that oil volumes through the
Strait have nearly returned to pre-conflict levels, proving Iran has lost
complete control despite US naval escorts and sanctions. He tied energy
security to national security, blamed Iran's economic woes on its leaders
funding groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, and firmly stated Iran cannot have a
nuclear weapon.
Iranian officials rejected the claim, saying the strait remains closed until their demands are met, while reports note rising oil flows amid some tanker incidents and smuggling.
