Sifuna Accuses Parliament of Blocking Lamu Refinery Details Request

Sifuna formally requested Senate records on the Sh2.2 trillion Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery, seeking details on public funds, environmental impacts, taxpayer costs, and community input under constitutional rights to information.

The project, which broke ground on September 30 in Lamu County, promises to process 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily, create 60,000 jobs, and boost industry, with Kenya considering a 10 percent stake. Meanwhile, activist Francis Awino's urgent High Court petition demands disclosure of any public commitments before more are made, amid land disputes and calls for accountability.
