A suicide bombing in Pakistan’s capital has killed at least 12 people, the country’s interior minister confirmed earlier today.
According to officials, the attacker detonated explosives near a busy intersection during the morning rush hour. Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, and the wounded were transported to nearby hospitals.
Interior Minister Rahim Khan stated that security forces are investigating the incident and are working to determine whether the attacker acted alone or as part of an organized group. He condemned the attack and said authorities have increased security in key areas of the city.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility.
Hospitals have appealed for blood donations, and authorities have advised the public to avoid the affected area as the investigation continues.
