Kenya Signs Agreements to Streamline Royalty Payments via eCitizen

On June 23, 2026, officials signed Service Level Agreements to integrate royalty collection into the national eCitizen platform, fulfilling President William Ruto's directive for transparency.

Businesses like bars and salons will pay licensing fees through eCitizen, with at least 70% of collections going directly to artists and up to 3 billion shillings targeted annually.

Key figures including Principal Secretaries Dr. Belio R. Kipsang and Fikirini Jacobs Kahindi, plus leaders from KECOBO, KAMP, and PAVRISK, joined the ceremony coordinated by Dennis Itumbi.

The move addresses mismanagement complaints and could transform Kenya's billion-shilling creative sector with real-time tracking.
