Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma
announced a Ksh 5.6 billion mini-city project in Abothuguchi Central, complete
with malls and modern facilities, with tenders already advertised by the Ministry
of Housing.
He also plans a prestigious Meru
State Lodge on government land, despite past environmental concerns about
forest encroachment.
While supporters highlight job potential, critics like MCA Robert Alai question priorities, urging focus on farming, hospitals, schools, roads, and water over malls in an agriculture-driven county.
