At the Third African Chief
Justices’ Alternative Dispute Resolution Summit in Nairobi on June 18-19, Ruto
pushed for ADR and AJS as Africa's original systems of dialogue and
reconciliation, serving traders, farmers, and neighbors—not just the wealthy.
He highlighted how efficient dispute
resolution supports the African Continental Free Trade Area, noted Africa's low
share of global arbitrators at under 8%, and pledged to secure steady judiciary
funding while pointing to Kenya's budget increases from 18.8 billion to 26.9
billion Kenyan shillings and 92 new judge appointments.
Chief Justice Martha Koome praised ADR for cutting costs, preserving relationships, and boosting investor confidence as an economic must for Africa's goals.
