The UAE Ministry of Defence stated
that its national tankers Mombasa and Al Bahiyah were targeted by two Iranian
cruise missiles while transiting the southern shipping lane of the Strait of
Hormuz in Omani territorial waters.
One Indian crew member died aboard
the Mombasa tanker, and eight others were injured, including six Indians and
two Ukrainians, with four in serious condition.
Fires broke out on both tankers causing material damage but were brought under control; India summoned Iran's Deputy Chief of Mission Mohammad Javad Hosseini over the incident.
