Iran's
Civil Aviation Organization, led by Abouzar Shiroudi, submitted a complaint to
the International Civil Aviation Organization challenging U.S. sanctions that
have disrupted operations for Iranian carriers, including canceled routes to
Baghdad and Muscat.
Shiroudi
stated the move defends the industry's rights and counters what Iran calls
illegal barriers, with coordination underway with the Foreign Ministry to
pursue legal remedies. While ICAO sets global aviation standards, it lacks
power to lift unilateral sanctions, and observers doubt quick results without
broader pressure; Iran is also exploring alternatives like Istanbul
connections.
