The
ceasefire, announced after talks in Washington on June 2 and 3, 2026, required
Hezbollah to stop firing and withdraw from southern Lebanon, with Lebanon's
army taking control of pilot zones.
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected it on
Al-Manar TV, calling it a plan for annihilation and enslavement, and vowed
resistance until full Israeli withdrawal.
Fighting persisted Thursday with Israeli strikes killing at least six in Lebanon and Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israeli positions, as Israel's Defense Minister affirmed ongoing operations.
