Iran Adviser Demands $24 Billion and Blockade Lift for U.S. Talks

Mohsen Rezaei, top adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, told CNN that U.S.-Iran peace talks are deadlocked until Trump releases $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets and ends the naval blockade on Iranian ports.

The warning came during a fragile ceasefire in the 2026 war, sparked by U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in late February, followed by Iranian missile attacks and the U.S. blockade from April 13.

Rezaei threatened to expand fighting to the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Mediterranean, plus more U.S. bases, while ruling out a Trump-Khamenei meeting and putting the onus on America.
