Private firms including Finsprint control Kenya's Sh104 billion Social Health Authority digital system

An Auditor-General's audit exposes that private companies such as CarePay, Safaricom, Apeiro, Konvergenz Network Solutions, Finsprint, and M-TIBA manage critical components of the Social Health Authority digital system, including claims processing, digital infrastructure, data exchange, ICT operations, hospital payments, and digital wallets.

Finsprint deducts a 2% fee from hospital payments, potentially amounting to Sh320 million monthly from Sh16 billion, with its majority shareholder lacking a verifiable address.

The government lacks ownership and control of the Sh104 billion system despite public funding.
