SpaceX
announced Starbase, Louisiana, a massive 125,000-acre complex near Pecan Island
designed for over 30 Starship flights per day to orbit, the Moon, Mars, and
beyond.
The site will feature more than a dozen launch towers, propellant production, power generation, deep-water shipping, and an airport, with construction starting in 2027 and first launches in 2029.
The company commits at least $100 billion and
around 10,000 jobs, mostly local hires, while partnering on coastal restoration
to combat shoreline erosion. Governor Landry welcomed the project with 'It’s
time for takeoff,' and Musk replied 'Thank you!'
