The State
Department plans to send foreign service officers back to embassies in Israel,
Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, and others as early
as this week, according to an internal document reported by the New York Times
and Reuters.
While Israel, Jordan, and Oman aim for full staffing, others like Lebanon and Gulf posts will operate at 85 percent or 75 percent capacity, with family restrictions still in place due to ongoing security risks.
Officials describe the move as balancing foreign policy goals with personnel safety, amid stalled U.S.-Iran talks and lingering regional tensions.
