Early
Saturday between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., a Kapsowar Shuttle matatu carrying
passengers from Nairobi to Eldoret rammed into a stalled lorry at Twin Bridge,
Mau Summit, killing at least five and injuring several others.
Many riders had just attended an Administration Police pass-out parade in Embakasi the day before; the lorry sat unmarked on the climbing lane overnight.
Mau Summit Base Commander Willy Lagat cited speeding and the truck's poor visibility on this notorious black spot as key factors, with police now investigating and urging caution on the route.
