Kenyan Senator Questions Health Authority Amid Nurses' Strike

Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang challenged President Ruto on September 8, asking how the Social Health Authority can function with nurses on strike for weeks over unpaid allowances and better conditions, leaving public hospitals short-staffed and patients at risk.

That same day in Makueni County, clinical officers marching peacefully to the governor's office were attacked by goons wielding sticks and brooms, injuring one with a fractured arm and scattering the protesters.

The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers demanded arrests and a probe, while Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior met the group and offered risk allowances tied to a new agreement, amid broader calls for dialogue to resolve the healthcare crisis.
