4.9 Earthquake Hits Southern Iran, Sparks Baseless Nuclear Test Claims

The tremor struck early Tuesday near Sargaz in Hormozgan province, with its epicenter 101 kilometers north of Minab at a depth of about 10 kilometers, according to the USGS.

Iranian media reported it as 5.0 magnitude and slightly deeper, but officials confirmed no damage or casualties in this seismically active area along the Zagros Mountains.

Online speculation linked it to a possible Iranian nuclear test, citing regional tensions and proximity to the Strait of Hormuz, though experts dismissed these as misinformation with seismic data confirming a natural tectonic event.
