Kenya Launches $1.6 Billion US Health Partnership After Court Approval

The Kenyan government and the United States signed off on a five-year, $1.6 billion health program on June 8, following Court of Appeal clearance from earlier challenges over data privacy.

Funds will upgrade labs, support over 13,000 health workers, improve disease surveillance under a quick-response model, and modernize digital systems—all channeled directly to Kenyan institutions.

President Ruto and US officials see it as a step toward universal health coverage and self-reliance, though public views divide between hopes for better hospitals and concerns over accountability and data sharing.
