U.S. Hits Record as World's Top Oil Exporter at 10.5 Million Barrels a Day

In May, the U.S. exported a record 10.5 million barrels per day of crude and refined fuels, surpassing Russia at 7 million and Saudi Arabia at 5.9 million, according to Vortexa data.

This surge builds on shale production exceeding 20 million barrels daily and benefits from U.S. Gulf Coast routes that avoid Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has cut Saudi shipments sharply.

President Trump celebrated the milestone, linking it to his policies, though critics highlight national gas prices at $4.08 per gallon and question the long-term picture amid low inventories and market volatility.
