Kenya Raises Police Salaries by Up to 36 Percent After Reforms Review

The announcement came during a passing-out event at Kiganjo on August 28, wrapping up a three-phase salary review recommended by the David Maraga-led taskforce, with the final phase effective from July 2026.

It includes raises across ranks, plus plans for 47,464 housing units and better healthcare via Usalama Cover.

While some hailed it as overdue support, others worry about budgeting, past delays, and whether higher pay will curb issues like bribery without stronger accountability.
