Former
Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi, 43, was unanimously approved by parliament
on August 28 and sworn in as Vice President the next day at Chamwino State
House in Dodoma.
He succeeds Nchimbi, who resigned on August 25 citing a pledge to step aside if President Samia Suluhu Hassan wanted change; the ruling party expelled him soon after over disciplinary issues.
Former Prime Minister Joseph Warioba said he
couldn't reach Nchimbi despite repeated tries, and unverified social media
claims suggest he may be held incommunicado, though authorities have not
confirmed his status. President Samia urged Ndejembi to serve all Tanzanians
equally amid the political spotlight.
