Hinga countered opposition claims
that a new administration might repossess Affordable Housing Programme units
built on public land, stressing constitutional protections for buyers.
The programme, part of President Ruto's
agenda, offers units from studios to three-bedrooms with payments starting at
KSh 2,500 monthly, has drawn massive interest, and claims 277,281 units under
way plus 640,442 jobs created.
While critics question completion figures and levy funding, officials highlight progress like keys handed to 8,367 owners by early 2026 and KSh 79 billion invested.
