forward with discussions to let Ukraine manufacture Patriot interceptor
missiles, even after President Trump publicly questioned the idea due to U.S.
stockpile concerns and technology transfer risks.
Kyiv sought production approval for nearly two
years under Biden but got no explanation for the rejection, which one official
said could have had lines running by now.
Options now include Ukraine making parts for assembly in Germany, though missiles wouldn't arrive for at least a year, as U.S. Ambassador Matthew Whitaker leads the efforts amid ongoing Russian attacks.
